Awareness Is Healing

Walk With Us

Whether you are walking for a loved one who is fighting addiction or has already lost the battle, we need to keep raising awareness. Overdoses happen everyday, but thanks to the Safe Station program, there have been more lives saved than lost. Let's keep that statistic going! Please visit https://www.facebook.com/events/591857174969667/  for more info for our next walk on March 28, 2020. We hope to see you there!!

Volunteer

While we try to do things all on our own, sometimes we have to ask for help. Most times it is just easy things, like crossing the walkers at the walks and helping pick up trash after the walks. Other times, we just don't have enough time in the day to get everything done ourselves. If you would like to volunteer your time, please feel free to email anytime!

The Safe Station program is for people who are battling addiction. They can go into any fire station in the city, no questions asked, go through a triage area, and get placed into a recovery center. This program has saved numerous lives since it was first started November 17, 2016.
When you donate to Awareness Is Healing, 100% of your donation goes to the Safe Station program and Harbor Homes, both of which are located in Nashua, NH. How We Started

In 2015, Darlene got involved with community walks to STOP Heroin, a crises that is killing many young adults. On October 24, 2015 she organized a walk from Greeley Park to Main Street in Nashua. Approximately 60 people showed up in support. Inspired to do another walk, Darlene organized another on March 19, 2016 and 800 Warrior Walkers showed up to support community healing and to bring awareness to the public about this epidemic. The walks received a lot of media coverage including WMUR news, NH1 News and the Nashua Telegraph. She was the highlight of an article titled "Making a Real Difference" written by Chris Williams.
Currently, Darlene has a small crew of volunteers helping her organize every one of these walks . She and her crew are a powerhouse of hope and positive energy. Darlene and her volunteers hope to continue raising money for Harbor Homes and Safe Station by having these walks and raising much needed awareness that this epidemic is still here and still wreaking havoc in the lives of thousands of people daily.
